Chapter 39 (Angel Falling Softly)

The epigram is by Kahlil Gibran, the Lebanese born philospher, essayist, novelist and poet (1883-1931):

Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.

If you ever stumble across the educational CD-ROM Quick English Homestay (alas, sold only in Japan and now out-of-print), you'll see the footage we shot at Gibb's farm in Wallsburg, the inspiration for Wylde's ranch, and the source of most of the associated technical details. Thanks, Gibb!

Malachi 4:6 (NIV):

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.
