Peaks Island Press and Other Works
With Eugene's passing, Peaks Island Press is no longer in operation. Books within the catalog will be republished in 2026.
His 12 Kingdoms translations, of which he was quite proud and dearly loved, will remain available. At some point, the books may be transferred to another link/URL. If so, that link will be posted here.
See the post below about remembrances. In keeping with Eugene's private personality as well as his eclectic interests, which included technology, a tribute to Eugene will likely take the form of memorial posts on this blog.

I'm sorry for your loss. I enjoyed his translations and the Twelve Kingdoms fandom greatly appreciates his work over the years. He will be missed.

Oh, goodness. I was wondering why when I went to resume buying books from some of your series on Kindle that they were no longer available. This is such sad news about Eugene. Thanks so much for letting us know!
I will always be grateful to him for helping me find out where to buy japanese books many years ago, and his translation of The Twelve Kingdoms will always be the definitive edition for me. They are beautiful. :)
He was so generous with the community and always answered all my questions, and I enjoyed his posts on japanese media.
I know I am very late finding out, but all the best to you and your family.
